Ration Card e-KYC :In a recent update by the Gujarat government, ration cardholders are required to complete the e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) process to continue receiving free ration supplies. Failure to do so by the deadline of February 15 could result in the suspension of ration benefits. This move is part of the government’s efforts to streamline the Public Distribution System (PDS) and ensure that benefits reach the rightful beneficiaries.
Why is e-KYC Mandatory for Ration Cards?
The e-KYC process is designed to verify the identity of ration cardholders and eliminate duplicate or fake ration cards. By linking ration cards with Aadhaar and other biometric data, the government aims to make the distribution system more transparent and efficient. This step ensures that only eligible individuals receive free ration supplies, reducing the chances of fraud and mismanagement.
What Happens If You Don’t Complete e-KYC?
If ration cardholders fail to complete the e-KYC process by the stipulated deadline, they risk losing access to free ration supplies starting February 15. This could significantly impact families who rely on these provisions for their daily needs. The government has emphasized the importance of timely compliance to avoid any disruption in the distribution of essential commodities.
