GSSSB Municipal Sanitary Inspector Recruitment 2026 :Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board (GSSSB) has released a revised notification for Municipal Sanitary Inspector and Sanitary Sub Inspector, Class-3 Recruitment under Advertisement No. 349/202526.Earlier, the recruitment was announced for 75 posts. Now 98 more vacancies have been added, taking the total number of vacancies to 173. The revised vacancies include 145 Municipal Sanitary Inspector posts and 28 Sanitary Sub Inspector posts.Eligible candidates can submit the online application from 20 July 2026 to 26 July 2026 through the OJAS portal.

A total of 173 vacancies will now be filled through this recruitment. The revised vacancy details are given below.

Out of the total 173 posts, the notification shows 73 General, 16 EWS, 45 SEBC, 12 SC and 27 ST vacancies.

Important Dates

The revised notification has extended/reopened the online application period for eligible candidates.

GSSSB Sanitary Inspector Age Limit

Candidates should be between 18 and 33 years. For this recruitment, the notification states that the age-limit cutoff remains 15 September 2025.

Age relaxation is available according to the applicable rules. For example, General-category women and reserved-category male candidates receive 5 years of relaxation, while further relaxation applies to eligible reserved women, PwD candidates and ex-servicemen.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC/12th) Examination or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.

Along with this, candidates must have either:

• Minimum one-year Sanitary Inspector Diploma Course from a recognized educational institution, or
• Minimum one-year Certificate of Health Sanitary Inspectors from an ITI or another institution recognized by the Government.

Candidates must also have basic computer knowledge and adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.

For the revised application window, the educational qualification cutoff date has been changed from 15 September 2025 to 26 July 2026.

GSSSB Sanitary Inspector Salary

Selected candidates will initially receive a fixed salary of ₹26,000 per month for the first five years.

For Municipal Sanitary Inspector, after five years of satisfactory service, candidates may become eligible for regular appointment in the ₹25,500 to ₹81,100 (Level-4) pay scale, subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification.

For candidates appointed as Sanitary Sub Inspector under Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, the revised notice states that satisfactory service after three years may make them eligible for regular appointment in the ₹25,500 to ₹81,100 (Level-4) pay scale. Such appointees will not be considered Gujarat Government employees.

Application Fee

The reserved fee category includes women of all categories, SEBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD and ex-servicemen as specified in the notification.

Candidates who appear in the examination will be eligible for a refund of the examination fee.

Selection Process

The selection process includes a competitive examination followed by document verification for eligible candidates based on merit.

After the provisional result, candidates who meet the minimum qualifying standard in Part-A and Part-B will be considered according to merit. Approximately twice the number of category-wise vacancies may be called for certificate verification.

GSSSB Sanitary Inspector Exam Pattern

The competitive examination will be conducted in CBRT/OMR mode with objective Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The examination consists of Part-A and Part-B.

There will be a total of 210 questions: 60 questions in Part-A and 150 questions in Part-B. Candidates will get 3 hours (180 minutes) to complete the examination.

For every wrong answer, 1/4 mark will be deducted as negative marking.

Candidates must score at least 40% separately in Part-A and Part-B to meet the minimum qualifying standard.
